Mzungus Around Town

We awoke this morning to the sound of roosters before dawn. The girls woke up shortly after and were beyond ready to play as they jumped on us and gave us good morning kisses.
We ate breakfast, got ready for the day, and then headed out to walk around our property and village. The scenery that surrounded us was nothing short of breathtaking. We walked for about two hours, surrounded by mountains, coffee plants, mango trees, flowers, and the many people out and about in the village.
However, the beauty we saw was nothing compared to the joy that fills the hearts of the people here. We were filled with so much happiness as we made friends with the local men, women, and children. We came across four dancing and laughing little kids, who did everything they could to retain our attention. They filled each and every one of our hearts with nothing but pure love, sent from above. This prompted us all to attempt our mzungu dance moves, as if we could compete with their cuteness. Luckily, we had our cameras to capture these moments. The kids were so ecstatic to see pictures and videos of themselves!
After our walk, we returned to the house, and the girls took their naps for the day…and so did we. We are all feeling the jet lag today! Later in the afternoon, we went to the market with Juma to get a few snacks for the week. On the drive back it started pouring buckets of rain…Connor and Lindsey were a little bit too excited. Listening to the rain hit the thatched rooftop of the house was the most incredible experience. It was as if God’s presence was pouring in on all our hearts. The rest of the day was relaxing, as we hung around the house and played with the girls.

After dinner we helped clean everything up and played a round or two of cards. But, there is a funny story about this that we all agree is CRUCIAL to add to the blog. As we were playing cards, the lights went out and the whole house went completely dark. The funny part was Ashton was in the shower while the power went out...he thought we were playing a joke on him and yelled, “hey guys, would someone mind turning the lights back on!?” Meanwhile we are all freaking out because we spotted a man outside with a flashlight and Corrinne had Juma on speed dial. Within the next few minutes the lights went back on and Ashton came out of the shower totally confused. The man with the flashlight turned out to be the guard for our property! Anyways, all is well and we are all looking forward to another fun filled day tomorrow!
